Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) - Introduction

What is Community Supported Agriculture? CSA is an innovative way to connect local farmers with local consumers. CSA is a partnership between a farmer and a community of supporters, which provides a direct link between growers and consumers. Members purchase a share of the season ’s harvest in advance of the growing season, sharing the costs, risks and rewards of growing food along with the farmer. CSA builds relationships between growers and consumers that benefit the land, soil, water, and wildlife, as well as the people.

Becoming a member of Huns Garden CSA will deepen your relationship with the food you eat, the land upon which it is grown, the people who grow it, and the community. Supporting Huns Garden, as a CSA member, will help strengthen the local economy, support sustainable farming practices, and decrease the number of miles your produce travels from the field to your table at home.

Other member benefits include opportunities to visit the farm weekly, participate in special seasonal events, volunteer on the farm, and pick your own beans, vegetables, and herbs.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) - Shares

What is a Share?
One share is designed to provide the weekly vegetable needs of an average family of four or a family of two adult veggie-lovers.

Shareholders will be given a combination of produces from a wide variety of seasonal crops each week, up to a maximum weight, averaging 6 -10 pounds per week. Shares will be lighter and leafier in June, heavier August through October.

The shares will be distributed from 5:30 - 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at 5440 County Line Road, in Kansas City, KS. Shares will be distributed for 20 weeks, from May 14th through October 15th. Occasional newsletters will provide information about farm happenings, recipes, vegetable storage information and more.
